Coral
Calcium was discovered in 1979 when a British journalist from the
Guinness Book of Records was sent to Okinawa, Japan to interview
Shigechiyo Izumi, the world's oldest documented living person, who
at the time was an energetic 115 years old and in remarkably good
health. He was a vibrant, healthy man who retired only 10 years
before the interview. The journalist was astonished, especially when
he began noticing that much of Okinawa's population was elderly and
in fabulous health.
A team of
researchers came to the island to find out how a 115 year old man
could be so healthy, and they made some amazing discoveries. They
found that neither the climate nor the diet of Okinawa was the
secret to longevity; rather, the key was in the water. The
islanders' water was different from water found anywhere else in the
world.
It was
infused with Coral Calcium and other marine minerals. The islands of
Okinawa were built up over the years from coral reefs. Rain that
falls on the islands percolates down through the ancient coral
deposits and picks up minerals and other elements. Not only does the
water contain many essential minerals - making it very similar to
the chemical makeup of the human skeleton and body fluids - it is
also very alkaline, with a pH of 8.6
Since
the discovery, Coral Calcium has gained a large user ship, with over
4 million users in Japan alone.
Coral
reefs are gradually broken up over the course of many years by wave
action then carried by tidal flow to the bottom of the ocean, where
the sand-like granules are saturated with the ocean's most valuable
minerals for thousands of years.
Mr. Robert Bare foot is a world renowned bio-logical chemist who has published several scientific research articles on analytical chemistry and mineral digenesis. He is the author of "The Calcium Factor" and "Death By Diet". Robert Barefoot is the leading coral calcium researcher in the industry. His researched enhanced hydrocarbon extraction in the petroleum industry and metal extraction in the mining industry, for which
he obtained numerous international patents, and is still active. His use of biochemistry in these fields led him to research the relationship between disease and nutrition, writing three books and appearing as guest speaker at health conventions and on radio and TV talk shows.
Mr. Robert Barefoot
gives a detailed technical defense to the concept that degenerative
diseases are caused by mineral and vitamin deficiency. Scientific
evidence provided by some of the world's most renowned scientists is
tied together into one cohesive scientific argument that
demonstrates that nutritional deficiency is the cause of many
diseases.
Although Mr. Robert
Barefoot has been publicly claiming for more than two decades that
nutritional deficiency, especially calcium, is the cause of many
degenerative diseases, it has only been recently that medical
journals (New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the
Medical Association) have been quoted in the popular press (Readers
Digest, New York Times and U.S. World News Report) as validating
that "the humble mineral calcium plays a major role in health and
well being". This means that nutrition is finally being recognized
and that the medicine of the 21st century should include nutritional
therapy.
Other scientists and
doctors are joining Robert Barefoot as coral calcium researchers,
including Dr. Steven Holt and Dr. Bruce Halstead. Coral calcium
promotes good nutrition and is a source for over 73 minerals.

Coral Calcium
What's Coral Calcium You Ask?
by Robert Barefoot
Author, Lecturer, Public Speaker
Mainstream Science is beginning to give the amazing mineral Calcium its place as an essential part of the daily diet!
In the October 13th, 1998 issue, the New York Times wrote an article entitled, Calcium Takes Its Place As a Superstar of Nutrients
reporting that a study by Dr. Martin Lipkin of the Strang Cancer Research Laboratory at Rockefeller University in New York, reported that "calcium supplements could inhibit colonic cell proliferation in people susceptible to colon cancer and might also prevent cancer in such organs as the breast, prostate and pancreas."
The New England Journal of Medicine reported in January of 1999 that, "adding calcium to the diet can keep you from getting tumors in your large intestine."
The February 1999 issue of the Readers Digest published an article entitled
The Superstar Nutrient."
It wrote that the Journal of the American Medical Association reported, "with 1500 mg of calcium a day, cell growth in the colon improved toward normal" (This means that the cancer was reversed). The Digest also reported that the Metabolic Bone Center at St. Luke’s Hospital believes that "a chronic deficiency of calcium is largely responsible for premenstrual syndrome, PMS." In the same article, the Digest reported, "in 1997 the large federally financed trial found that a diet containing 1200 mg of calcium significantly lowered blood pressure in adults."
Calcium is involved in almost every biological function to include: Providing electrical energy for the heart to beat and for all muscle movement, cell nutrition, DNA replication ( body repair ), and pH control. The most important contribution of calcium to human health is pH control. Calcium to acid is like water to a fire. Calcium quickly neutralized the oxygen robbing acid in the body fluids. Therefore, more calcium means more oxygen and greater health benefits. Virtually every body system requires calcium for proper function.
A pH test will tell you how alkaline or acidic your body fluids are. Scientists have found that healthy people have systems that are alkaline. Scientists have also found that over 150 degenerative diseases are linked to Calcium Deficiency including cancer, diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, gall and kidney stones, and many more. All diseases thrive in an acidic environment.
Almost everything we do (our lifestyles and our diets) push us into the acidic range: proteins, carbohydrates and fats are all digested down to acids. Even metabolic functions and exercise (Lactic Acid) create some acids. Body fluids range between a pH of 4.5 and 7.5 (blood must maintain 7.35 to 7.45 pH.)
Keep in mind that a drop in every point on the pH scale is 10 times more acidic. I.e. from 7 to 6 is 10 times. From 7 to 5 is 100 times. From 7.5 to 4.5 is 1000 times, etc. It takes 32 glasses of alkaline water to neutralize the acid from one 12 oz. Cola. When you drink cola, the body will use its own buffers, including calcium from the bones and DNA to raise the body’s alkalinity levels, especially to maintain its blood pH levels.

Robert Barefoot's Dream Coral Calcium formula derives its calcium from
100% non-fossilized coral calcium which is harvested with care under the supervision of the Japanese government to protect the pristine marine environment of the Okinawa reefs. This seabed coral leaches nutrients from the ocean right up to the minute it is collected. Coral that is harvested on shore, fossilized coral, has been washed and weathered for thousands of years, thereby removing much of the nutrient content.
The average elderly person in America can only absorb about 3% of regular calcium products on the market and it takes over 20 hours to show up in the blood. The 1500 mg of calcium and the 320 mg of magnesium from Coral Calcium show up in the blood in less than 10 minutes due to the presence of microbes that assist the absorption. For these reasons and because of the natural ratio of calcium to magnesium content, Robert Barefoot says "This Coral Calcium is the best coral available."
Coral Calcium has 75 natural absorbable trace minerals and several other crucial nutrients added such as; Vitamin D-3, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, chromium, zinc, silver, selenium, boron, iodine, molybdenum, manganese, copper, nickel, vanadium, rubidium, and cesium. The latter two, rubidium and cesium have been found by Dr. Brewer, Dr. Sartori and other medical scientists to be extremely effective in fighting cancer.
Disease
Acidosis
(overly acidic body) is the primary indicator of Calcium Deficiency
Disease. Scientists have discovered that the body fluids of healthy people
are alkaline (high pH) whereas the body fluids of sick people are acidic
(low pH).
A pH test (potential for Hydrogen) will tell you how
alkaline or acidic your body fluids are. Scientists have found that
healthy people have systems that are alkaline. Scientists have also found
that over 200 degenerative diseases are linked to Calcium Deficiency -
including:
Alzheimer's Disease
Angina
Arteriosclerosis
Arthritis
Bone Spurs
Cancer
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Diabetes
Eczema
Fibromyalgia
Gallstones
Gout
Headaches
Heart Disease
Hiatal Hernia
High Cholesterol
Hypertension
Joint Pain
Kidney
Stones
Lupus
Muscle Cramps
Osteoporosis
Frequent hives, chronic fatigue, canker and cold sores,
muscle cramps (Charlie Horses), and itchy skin may all be symptoms of
calcium deficiency.
Everybody needs Coral Calcium to keep his or her body
in optimum health! We get bombarded daily with acidity. For example, a can
of soda takes 32 8-oz glasses of good water to overcome the acid in one
8oz can of soda. Coral Calcium restores your alkalinity and builds your
immune system so you can cooperate with your body to regenerate good
health!
The primary cause of calcium deficiency is our diet. The
Standard American Diet (SAD) which typically consists of high-fat,
high-protein, high-phosphate, high sodium foods and beverages.
Examples include red meats, refined grains, heavily processed foods,
bakery goods and soft drinks (especially cola drinks which contain large
amounts of
phosphoric acid). This is an over-acidic diet, and this
upsets the body's acid/alkaline balance by draining our body of alkaline
minerals, like calcium.
pH AND YOUR HEALTH
The body is composed of elements requiring a balance
between acidity and alkalinity known collectively as pH. pH
balance is essential for the proper utilization of nutrients,
water, and oxygen.
When the body's pH is out of
balance, the potential for disease is greater. While the body
has a remarkable ability to adjust its pH, it often becomes
unbalanced with diet, lifestyle and aging. For this reason, it
is good to know how to check for pH balance and what to do to
help the body balance its pH.
HOW IS pH
MEASURED?
pH is measured in the body on a scale from 1 to 14. The
number 1 represents extreme acidity while 14 represents
extreme alkalinity. Perfect balance of pH is 7, which is
considered neutral. Optimal health requires a pH of 6.4 to
7.4.
To measure your pH, ask your pharmacist for pH
strips. They will instruct you in the use of the paper strips.
You will collect a sample of your day's first urine and gauge
the color the urine turns the pH strip. Each shade of color on
the color chart has a correspo0nding number, which represents
a pH value.
Ideally, the first morning urine pH would
be in the 6.4 to 7.0 range as the urine is characteristically
slightly acidic. Several days of testing, with the pH below
6.4 might suggest that the body might be limited in its
ability to absorb and utilize nutrients.
A consistent
acidic first morning urine pH may be the result of a poor
dietary intake of minerals, particularly calcium. Many studies
show that calcium is absolutely necessary for maintaining
proper pH balance.

I am Still Pain Free
I first heard about Coral Calcium from a friend who claimed this was the most amazing product she had ever taken
and something I should be taking. At first I thought 'calcium', what is so amazing about calcium? I, like many
women have taken calcium over the years as part of my daily vitamin regimen mainly because of the spoken threats
of Osteoporosis, but I never viewed it as any miracle mineral. So needless to say I was somewhat skeptical
about its miracle attributes.
My friend assured me that this was NOT just ordinary calcium, but that 'Coral Calcium' was very different.
More to humor my friend than anything else, I decided to visit the 'Go Calcium' web site to find out for myself
what made this product so different from what I had been taking.
Not long after beginning to read about the Dr. Robert Barefoot's extensive research on Coral Calcium and the
many degenerative diseases (including arthritis) that Coral Calcium claimed to improve, I was not only amazed at
what I was reading, but I immediately ordered a bottle.
I am a 51 year old woman who has suffered with arthritis in my knee joints since I was in my early teens. Over
the years I have tried everything, short of surgery to get relief from the daily pain I suffer with little
success.
After I received my bottle of Coral Calcium I took the PH test that came with the product and was surprised to
find that I tested at the second to the lowest PH level possible on the chart. I began taking 4 tablets a day -
and within only 4 days I, for the first time in my life, had nearly no knees joint pain! I then, as directed,
took another PH test and found that my PH level had already improved two levels! Thanks to taking Coral
Calcium, I am still pain free and am so thrilled that I have signed up for auto delivery of the product so I
will never run out of this miracle mineral!

I would probably need surgery
I have been taking Coral Calcium ever since I experienced a severe gallbladder attack over a year ago. My mother has been taking Coral Calcium for her Osteoporosis for about 5 months and she suggested I try it. Since my doctor had said I would probably need surgery to remove my gallbladder I thought, what do I have to loose? I have been on the auto ship program now for 6 months and have not had one gallbladder attack since and feel great!

FAQ's
Important
Why is calcium important?
Calcium is the single most abundant mineral in our bodies. It is needed for strong and healthy bones and teeth. Of the body's
total calcium, about 99% is in the bones and teeth. The remaining 1% is present in body tissues and fluids where it is
essential for the heart, cell metabolism, muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission, hormone and enzyme activity, and for
blood to clot normally. This 1% is roughly evenly divided between non-diffusible calcium and diffusible calcium. The
non-diffusible calcium is mainly bound to albumin and globulins in the blood.
This is so important for our survival, that when our dietary calcium is too low, our body will actually take calcium out of
our bones and teeth and use it for these and other critical biological functions.
Calcium in the blood is tightly controlled by the body, and scientific evidence suggests that calcium is also involved in the
regulation of blood pressure and may also play a role in reducing the risk of colon cancer as well as lessening the effects of
premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
How much calcium do I need?
You have probably heard that you need 1,000 mg of calcium daily. This is the RDA for the average American. However, the US
Government has set much more accurate calcium guidelines, which vary depending on your age and physical condition. These are the
recommended amounts for calcium set by the National Institutes of Health:

Serious
Is calcium deficiency serious?
Yes! Over 200 degenerative diseases have been linked to calcium deficiency, including osteoporosis, heart disease,
arthritis, Fibromyalgia, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis and cancer. Other conditions such as
angina, joint pain, muscle pain, bone spurs are related to calcium deficiency.
Are there any symptoms of calcium deficiency?
Frequent hives, chronic fatigue, canker and cold sores, muscle cramps (Charlie Horses), and itchy skin may all be symptoms.
What are the causes of calcium deficiency?
The primary cause is our diet. The Standard American Diet (SAD) which typically consists of high-fat, high-protein,
high-phosphate, high-sodium foods and beverages. Examples include red meats, refined grains, heavily processed foods, bakery
goods and soft drinks (especially cola drinks which contain large amounts of phosphoric acid). This is an over-acidic diet, and
this upsets the body's acid/alkaline balance by draining our body of alkaline minerals like calcium.
A secondary cause is stress. Stress removes magnesium from our cells and replaces it with calcium from our blood and
bones. This causes our muscles to become tense as we go into our fight-or-flight mode.
What are the dietary sources of calcium?
Calcium can be found in a wide variety of foods, but the primary source is dairy products. Unfortunately, some dairy products,
such as cheese, contain very high levels of saturated fats and cholesterol. Calcium is also found in leafy green vegetables,
nuts, seeds, tofu, and dried fruit.
How is calcium absorbed by the body?
Calcium is one of the most difficult minerals for the body to absorb. Eating foods high in calcium and taking calcium supplements
will not help if the calcium is not well absorbed. Once food or calcium supplements enter your stomach, your stomach acid
extracts the calcium and it continues down your digestive tract. From the intestines it is absorbed into the bloodstream. Vitamin
D is essential for this step. This is because calcium is transported into the bloodstream by a special carrier protein which
requires vitamin D for its synthesis. Fatty acids then transport calcium from our blood into our tissues. Excess calcium in the
body can be stored in the bones and withdrawn by the body when calcium intake becomes inadequate.
Aging
How is calcium in our bones affected by aging?
By age 20, your bones typically stop growing in length, and peak bone mass is usually reached around this time. The density of
your bones at this point will partially depend upon the extent of your calcium intake as a child. The greater this peak bone
mass, the less likely your bones are to become porous and fragile later as you grow older.
Bone is living tissue, constantly renewing itself. Although our bones are strong, everyday wear and tear causes tiny structural
defects and weaknesses. In your body there are two groups of specialized cells that repair these defects and weaknesses. The
first group removes the damaged bone tissue and the second deposits a material that calcifies to form new bone tissue. This is an
ongoing, natural process and the cycle is completed every three to four months in a healthy young adult.
As you grow older the two groups of cells that repair your weakened bones become less efficient in working together because the
second group that rebuilds the bone cannot keep up with the first group that removes damaged bone tissue. The result is decreased
bone density, a contributing factor in osteoporosis. Proper calcium intake becomes even more important as you grow older for this
reason.
Calcium is less efficiently absorbed as you age. You need to be even more vigilant about your calcium intake to protect your
bones. Despite the slowdown of calcium absorption and less efficient bone tissue repair, studies of older adults show that
adequate calcium intake can slow bone loss and reduce the risk of fracturing.
What can inhibit calcium absorption?
A number of substances can inhibit the absorption of calcium:
Phytic acid, found in bran, whole cereals and raw vegetables
Uronic acid, a component of dietary fiber
Oxalic acid, found in certain fruits and vegetables
Saturated fats, found in many of our foods
Alcohol
It is possible for foods to contain calcium and for that calcium to have limited availability to the body. The reason is that
these foods contain calcium-binding substances called oxalates (found in many green vegetables) or phytates (found in unleavened
grain products). Oxalates bind with calcium to produce insoluble salt (calcium oxalate), which cannot be absorbed by the body.
Spinach, beet greens, chard and rhubarb contain calcium, but they also contain oxalates that bind with calcium and interfere with
calcium absorption. The calcium content of these foods should not be counted as part of your daily calcium intake. Cocoa,
soybeans, cashews, and kale also include oxalates.
Many foods that are high in fiber also contain phytate, which inhibits calcium absorption. Wheat bran has been shown to have a
significant inhibiting effect.
Supplement
Do I need a calcium supplement?
Calcium is an essential mineral that plays an important role in bone and teeth formation, muscle contraction, and blood clotting. The best way to get calcium is from the foods you eat, but people who can't get enough calcium from food may need to take calcium supplements, and coral calcium is an ideal choice.
Calcium in foods and supplements occurs in compounds, or substances that contain more than one ingredient. Available supplements include: calcium carbonate, calcium citrate, calcium phosphate, calcium lactate, and calcium gluconate. The calcium in these compounds is called elemental calcium. When reading labels, be sure to check the amount of elemental calcium, rather than the amount of the entire compound.
Not all the calcium you eat is absorbed by your body. How much your body absorbs depends on several factors, including the type of calcium compound you consume. Calcium carbonate requires an acidic environment in the stomach in order to be absorbed. Stomach acid increases in the presence of food, so calcium carbonate should be taken with a meal. Calcium citrate does not require extra stomach acid to be dissolved, and should be taken on an empty stomach.
Your body absorbs calcium less efficiently as your intake increases, therefore it is best to take calcium in small doses throughout the day. Taking more than 500 milligrams at one time is not recommended. This is why it is recommended to drink pure water with coral calcium through out the day, as opposed to all at once.
Another factor in absorption of calcium from supplement tablets is whether the tablet itself dissolves in the body. Many do not. They can pass through the body only partially dissolved. Digesting calcium carbonate found in many tablet forms of calcium supplements can use up a lot of the stomach acid, which can interfere with proper digestion of foods. (In fact, calcium carbonate is so effective in using up stomach acid, it is the primary ingredient in antacid tablets.) coral calcium does not have this problem, as there is nothing to dissolve.
Of all these coral calcium is your best choice since it is 100% absorbable. Calcium phosphate, calcium lactate, and calcium gluconate are not as good because they have small percentages of elemental calcium in each tablet, so you have to take many tablets to get enough calcium.
Taking more than 2,500 milligrams of elemental calcium per day is not recommended.
Loss
What foods contribute to calcium loss?
Pay attention to foods that cause calcium loss through the urine. You lose calcium daily through the urine. While a certain
amount is perfectly
natural, there is evidence to suggest that calcium loss through the urine is increased by excess consumption of salt and
caffeine:
Salt (Sodium) This is the most common cause of such calcium loss through the urine. Over 90% of sodium comes from food
rather than from table salt. You should minimize you sodium intake for this reason, and other health considerations as well (such
as high blood pressure).
Caffeine This is the second most common of calcium loss through the urine. Most experts agree that two to three cups a day
is probably not detrimental provided that your calcium intake is adequate. If you consume more than three cups in a day, some
people suggest drinking at least one glass of milk for every cup of coffee. However, unless you drink non-fat milk, this
suggestion will also result in an increase of saturated fats, so this is not the best solution. Drinking pure water with coral calcium is a much healthier way to offset these negative effects of caffeine.
What is the relationship between calcium and Vitamin D?
Vitamin D is crucial to calcium absorption because it produces enzymes which allow calcium to leave the intestine and enter the bloodstream. The minimum daily recommendation for vitamin D is 400 International Units per day. For people who have osteoporosis, 600 International Units is recommended.
Vitamin D supplements are usually not necessary because vitamin D is available from foods such as fortified milk, egg yolks and multi-vitamins, as well as exposure to sunlight on your skin.
The easiest and most natural way to get Vitamin D is from exposure to sunlight, which causes the body to manufacture its own. The sun's ultraviolet rays convert your skin oil into Vitamin D. Just 15 minutes a day of summer sun exposure, even if only on the arms, face and hands is usually enough. Without Vitamin D, even calcium will pass though the body unabsorbed.
Difference
Can't I get all the calcium I need from a good multivitamin?
No. We recently checked the most popular name-brand vitamins on the market today
and the results were very surprising. The calcium content of these multivitamins ranges from 45% to only 12% of the RDA. The calcium in multivitamins is normally in the form of calcium carbonate, which is only about 10% absorbable by you body. Coral calcium gives you over 99% of your RDA for calcium, and more importantly, it is 600 absorbable.
How do our bodies loose calcium?
We constantly lose calcium from our bloodstream through urine, sweat, and bowel movements. It is renewed with calcium from our bones. In this process, bones continuously lose calcium. This bone calcium must be replaced through dietary intake of calcium and calcium supplements if necessary.
Calcium needs change throughout life. Up until the age of 30 or so, we typically consume more calcium than we lose. Adequate calcium intake during childhood and adolescence is especially important. Later, the body begins to slip into "negative calcium balance," and the bones start to lose more calcium than they take up. The loss of too much calcium can lead to decreased bone density and osteoporosis.
What is the difference between "chelated", "colloidal"
and "ionized" minerals?
A chelated mineral is one that has bonded to an amino acid molecule. This allows the mineral to be better absorbed by the body because it recognizes the amino acid.
A colloidal mineral is one suspended in a liquid, most commonly water.
Ionized minerals have a positive electrical charge, and are much more readily absorbed into the blood and tissues than chelated or colloidal minerals. Coral calcium (Ca++) is 600 absorbable by the body.
What exactly is coral calcium?
Coral calcium is an electrically charged mineral (Ca++) in an aqueous solution. The advantage of using coral calcium as opposed to other forms of calcium supplements is that it is 600 absorbable by your body. Your body needs calcium, regardless of the form in which you consume it. By drinking coral in pure water, you are consuming it in the form that the body needs it, thus saving you body the energy it needs to expend to convert other forms of calcium into calcium. In addition, coral calcium contains over 70 trace minerals that are naturally found in sango coral, plus it creates an alkaline solution, which can correct the overly-acidic condition of our bodily fluids caused by a diet high in saturated fats, protein, and phosphates.
